Principal: Dr. Tara Kalis
Dr. Tara Kalis is principal at Russell Jones Education Center, where she previously taught from 2007-2015.
Dr. Kalis also taught at Congress Middle School from 2003-2007, and she was our Park Hill Teacher of the Year in 2011. She started her career in education in 2000 in the St. Joseph School District.
Dr. Kalis received her elementary education degree with a minor in special education from Missouri Western State University. After two years of teaching, she went to Texas A&M University to earn her master's degree in educational psychology with an emphasis in low-incidence disabilities. Dr. Kalis then completed her doctorate in special education from the University of Kansas and an educational specialist degree from the University of Missouri – Kansas City.
Dr. Kalis and her husband Tim, who works in the district as a math teacher at Plaza Middle School, have two children, Alexander and Addison. They are proud to be raising them in the Park Hill School District.
